I was born on Virginia's Eastern Shore in 1937. My childhood experiences drawing ships and planes used in the Second World War fostered my skills as an artist and my intense desire to inject realism into my work. A graduate of Hargrave Military Academy, I served in the U. S. Air Force from 1957 to 1962. There I developed a passion for deep-sea diving that would lead to a career lasting 25 years.
I find it satisfying that after a life following my great loves of diving, painting and flying, I can point to a log of more than 4,500 command flying hours in 50 different aircraft (including high performance World War II machines), more than 15,000 hours in commercial dives, and over 1,200 works of art in watercolor. Twenty-three of these works have been published in limited prints.
"I never had a large bank account and there are times when I have not known where the next meal was coming from but I have never been bored. I have always enjoyed what I am doing and have always looked foward to Monday mornings."
